Hey everyone, thanks for stopping by! It’s been a busy week of theme park-related news and we’re trying to hit the highlights for you. We’ve got some updates on new shows coming to the parks, a cute penguin in a wet suit, and we’re even throwing in some Disney movie news for fun!

The Downlow for Friday, October 28, is here!

  • Night time at the WDW Parks is going to see a lot of changes soon! This week it was announced that an all new castle projection show, “Once Upon a Time” will replace “Celebrate the Magic” beginning November 4. The Downlow team has always been  big fans of CtM which debuted in November 2012, but we’re always up for a change. Attractions Magazine has the details (and some fun pictures) of “Once Upon a Time”!
  • In other nighttime entertainment news, WDW News Today picked up a rumor that Disney’s Animal Kingdom is nearing an opening date for their long-delayed “Rivers of Light” nighttime show! RoL was announced last year and was expected to open in April 2016. That never happened. Rumors about the cause of the delay have been swirling for months, but now it appears the show may open very soon.
  • Not unlike our Travel Tips from last week about traveling during inclement weather, the good folks over at WDW Magic recently posted a guide to having a perfect rainy day at Walt Disney World!
  • SeaWorld’s Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin has been a hit or miss attraction since it opened in 2013. A trackless, motion-based dark ride that was hailed as the flagship part of the attraction didn’t blow away guests, but the encounter with live penguins at the end of the ride has been a hit since day one. Now, guests will have the chance to see a fun addition to the penguin exhibit, Adelie and her wet suit!
  • Finally, two bits of Disney movie news! First up is a clip from Disney’s tent pole Thanksgiving animated film, Moana! In the clip, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson sings an original song from the movie written by “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda! Moana opens on November 23! In other exciting film news, Donald Glover (of “Community” and Childish Gambino fame!) has been cast in the role of young Lando Calrissian in the new standalone Han Solo film! Fans of Star Wars will remember that Billy Dee Williams made the role famous in the original trilogy! The Han Solo film is without a title at the moment, but we know it will be directed by “Lego Movie” helmers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and will be written by original Star Wars screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan and his son, Jake Kasdan. It should be out sometime in 2018!

Well, that’s a wrap on today’s Downlow! Are you excited for Moana or the Han Solo Star Wars movie? Leave a comment below!
